The YESS Project

This is another example of WATER’s commitment to collaboration. Our partners here are: ‘Yealm Estuary to Moor’ (YEM who are focused on the River Yealm), the Environment Agency and Devon Wildlife Trust. Park Life, a not-for-profit CIC that supports community environmental projects, facilitates delivery of practical hands-on support.

The Yealm Erme Species Survival or YESS Project encourages non-farming landowners to develop sustainable, nature-friendly initiatives to improve species abundance and biodiversity within the catchments of the two rivers.

Smaller land parcels (1-30 acres) often do not qualify for grants available to larger landowners. The YESS Project offers expert advice from Devon Wildlife Trust, identifies financial support in some cases and assists implementation by linking to volunteer help.

So far, the YESS Project partnership has initiated thirteen projects; seven on the Erme and six on the Yealm.
