Youngsters Show The Way On Fundraising For Water

Children made up 16 of the 28 walkers who took part in a Coastal Walk fundraiser that offered a choice of two distances (for different age children). Both ended at the top of Burgh Island providing the added motivation of needing to get back across the beach before the tide came in.

Between them, these adventurous youngsters raised £1,114 for WATER – a really remarkable achievement.

WATER has recently started an Education Programme to engage with young people in towns and villages across the catchment of the river Erme. These welcome and unexpected funds will go towards providing our newly appointed Education lead, Pat Hannam, with resources to help kick start her work with schools, colleges and other groups.

Huge thanks to everyone who took part and for providing us with the means to encourage more  young people to recognise just how important it is to restore our local river and its wildlife habitat to its rightful healthy state.
